Mohamed Ali, probably the most outstanding athlete of all time, who now suffers from Parkinson's Disease.

 

Chris Brown

 

North Yorkshire farmer, mountaineer and devoted charity worker. Motto - life is not a rehearsal. Has devoted his life to fund-raising for his schizophrenia foundation, through participation in extreme sports like mountaineering and long distance running. He is a seven peaks summitteer having climbed the highest peak in every continent around the world including Everest. He has run the Marathon des Sables a gruelling six days across the Sahara desert, The Trans Aq six marathons in six days, 240km of sand dunes down the French coast and has run the London Marathon almost every year since its start.

1998  Diagnosed with Parkinson's
2002/5  President of the British Mountaineering Council

 Barbara Thompson

Barbara studied clarinet, piano, flute and composition at the Royal College of Music. Whilst retaining a strong interest in classical music, Barbara was captivated by the jazz work of Duke Ellington and John Coltrane and developed a consuming passion for the saxophone. She formed her own group Paraphernalia in 1977. The band , still touring and recording despite Barbara being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1997
